Christmas Knitting

This is the second headwarmer scarf set I knit for Sycamore Valley Alpaca Farm. The first set is a darker grey, forgot to get a photo.  I'm now done with Christmas orders.  Plenty more orders to work on.  My friends keep me busy.  It's great, I get to work with fantastic fiber and yarn doing something I love.  :-)  Guess they like my work, they keep giving me yarn to make things!

Special order for Crooked Creek Alpacas Gifts and More.  I had to blend two colors of fleece to get the color the customer wanted.  Connie and I decided on a mix of Maggie, white, and Brody, fawn, to get a cream.  Willie delivered the fleeces and I got to work.  The yarn is very soft and wonderful to work with.  Connie and Willie raise some lovely animals.  It is always a joy to work with their fleece.

This is some of the knitting I do for the alpaca farms.  It's all their alpaca yarn.  They bring me yarn and I get to make lovely things with lovely yarn and give it back.  Sycamore Valley and Acorn Acres both have shops and surprise, surprise, not everyone knits!  Besides I think it also helps those knitters who do visit the farms to see just how wonderful the yarns are in a finished product.

Hi! I'm Cathi and I have the dream job. I get to knit, spin, process alpaca fleece at home all day. Labor intensive but great fun. It's only me at this so it takes a while to get anything done, my "staff" doesn't have thumbs so no chance of getting them involved.

Well, Frodo does like to get involved with the fleece end of the endeavor, but he's really not much help. He tends to run off with things - fleece, knit items, lives to chew yarn and bite bamboo needles, when he's not tormenting The Queen of the Universe. He looks pretty innocent here. Do not be fooled!

Meet Sarah, my chief of security. She's also pretty good at keeping me entertained as well as somewhat physically active. Boxers love to play and need an occasional trip outdoors. She's quite disinterested in the fibre business, her job is to alert me to any dangers....real or imagined. Great dog and a massive hoot to have around, lots of company while hubby is at work.

As I mentioned, I knit, spin and process alpaca fleece. I knit for two alpaca farms, Sycamore Valley and Acorn Acres, I process (clean, card and sometimes spin) alpaca fleece for Crooked Creek Alpacas, in exchange for the care and feeding of the lovely, should say handsome, alpaca I'm pictured with. His name is Titan, he's a real sweetheart.

I do make some beaded items as well, be getting pictures up of the knitting and beading within the next few days.

Enough for now, do need to get back to work. I've got a scarf drying outside and need to check on it so it doesn't blow away. We're having some lovely warm (for Western PA) weather, thought I'd take advantage of it, and keep the scarf away from my resident feline fibre thief.
